Living in China. July 10-11, 2010.

It remains hot and sunny. The highs every day are hitting 95-100.

Saturday afternoon there was a tent set up on the corner of my block. A guy was giving a pitch over a microphone. I don’t know what he was selling, but he drew a crowd by promising to give away gift bags. I didn’t listen to the talk, but I looked at one a few months ago. They were selling cell phones then. Probably the same thing here.

Went to hear Carmen Friday night at the Shenzhen Concert Hall. It was all Chinese musicians and singers. It sounded OK.

Got an invite to a party at my friend Chas’s house. Have never been there and apparently it is out of the way.  He said he would arrange transportation for those of us who live in town.

Went with Sea to my favorite noodle shop for dinner. The kid who used to do deliveries had been promoted to head noodle puller. As always, the noodles were great. The last couple of times I have gotten the noodles to go because the shop is not air conditioned. Tonight they had an air conditioner running, so we ate inside.

On the bad side, the price of the noodles had gone up to 10 Yuan (about $1.50 USD). There is another noodle shop a few doors down, but it’s nowhere as good as this one, even though it’s a little cheaper.
