Living in China. July 22, 2010.

Cloudy with off and on rain this morning.

Checked in with Sea. She said she was feeling good. I looked at her medicine. There was a box of pills and 2 bags of herbs for tea. I’m not sure what was for what ailment.

The paper said there was 3.8% inflation in Shenzhen last month. I haven’t noticed any price increases. I think most of the increases are related to real estate which has been in a boom as long as I can remember. Then I remembered an article in the Shenzhen Daily a few days ago that said the price of garlic has gone up more that 1000% since last year. I think they use garlic in every dish here. It is very mild.

The first is a picture from the garlic market in Jinxiang County in Jining, Shandong Province. I it lifted from the Shenzhen Daily. The second is garlic at a local market.

Haven’t used the air conditioner for 3 days. It’s 86 now and I am comfortable. I guess I’m getting acclimated.

It rained off and on all day. Had 2 ears of steamed corn for dinner.
