Living in China. July 31, 2010.

Vivian asked if she could accompany us to the Pinnacle of Evil party tonight. Without asking Charles, I said OK. YCGs (Young Chinese Girls, as we call them) are always welcome. She said Martin would drive us there which is a good deal as it’s about a 100 Yuan cab ride to Charles’ house. Martin won’t stay for the party, so we’ll have to take a cab home.

Also, the three of us need to go to the travel agent today to get our Vietnam visas. Decided to do this before pulling the trigger on the airline tickets, just in case there is a problem. The store front with the green sign is the travel agency.

Vivian can only get a week off from work, so she will just visit Hanoi with Sea and I. Then she will return to Shenzhen while Sea and I head south.

LATER

Martin took us to Charles’ house. I hadn’t been there before. It was very nice in a gated community on the side of a mountain outside of town. They invited 70 people but only 20-25 showed up, probably because the location was inconvenient. The first two pics are views from the balcony.

The food was great. Val (French) brought an apple tort. Fatrix (Turkish) brought 3 kinds of Turkish cheese. Karin (Germany) brought potato salad, Vic (Russia) brought red cabbage slaw, I think. Mirko (Italy) brought green salad. Fong (China) brought sweet corn, etc. etc. Charles cooked hamburgers.

About 23:00 we hitched a ride to CoCo Park with Kamanari and Fang Fang. There we waited for Martin to pick us up and take us the rest of the way home.
