Living in China. August 15, 2010.

Woke up to a few clouds this morning. By the time I finished my cleaning and laundry it was raining.

If I understood things correctly it is some sort of day of rest today and everything is supposed to be closed. As of now, I haven’t been outside to see what’s going on. If the rain stops, I’ll go out.

Some friends and I had planned to meeting at La Casa tonight. On Sundays they have an open mic night. But now I’m not sure if they’ll be open.

About 13:30 the rain let up. I walked to the park, but it was too wet.

Spent the rest of the afternoon playing computer chess and working on the Vietnam trip itinerary. Got rooms booked in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Arranged for a car to meet us at the airport. Booked a few day trips.

Met some friends for dinner at a Sichuan place. The 3 men below are police of some kind.

I found out the “holiday” today was actually a day or mourning for victims of a landslide in western China. I think nearly 1000 people were killed.
