Today is Dragon Boat day. I forgot the exact story, but a dragon attacked a boat crossing the Yangtze River. I think the emperor might have been in the boat. To distract the dragon, the sailors threw rice cakes over one side to the boat that the dragon would eat instead of the passengers. It worked and everyone arrived safe.
On Dragon Boat Day everyone eats sweet rice cakes that are wrapped in banana leaves and steamed for hours. They’re good once a year. Actually, I had half of one a few days ago. That’s enough for this year, but we’ll see.
Sea just got up. She says she feels better, but I’m not so sure. She usually sings while she goes about her morning business. Today she’s silent.
